New Lawn Mower

Towards the end of last mowing season, our riding lawn mower, a "gift" from mom and dad, finally gave out. My dad replaced his old riding mower with a new one about the time we moved into the house on Boston Lane. It was more than perfect timing-we live on a little over an acre so we MUST have a riding mower. Well since then we have been looking and praying for a while now, and last weekend we came across this beauty! We found it used on Craigslist (a website that runs classified type ads). Although there are some things on Craigslist to be weary of, this one, we felt was a good buy, a good mower and retails for $1200.00. The man that sold it used it for one season last year and is moving to Deleware. Jon (and Dad) went to look at it and talk to the seller and decided it was a good choice. We have now bought a dryer and a mower used off Craigslist and have been extremely blessed to get them both at VERY reasonable prices. God is always providing for us-(it just might have something to do with tithing...) This one is a 42" deck, 18.5 horsepower a Troy Bilt Bronco...(I really dont know what all that means, but when we compared it to this years model at Lowe's on Saturday I know it is a good "middle of the line model". I hope Jon has lots of fun times on it!
On an additional note, the kids are fine. Josh will be on Spring Break next week and has 4 baseball games-so Jon has requested that he be able to work in town next week. I am looking forward to some "after work" help! The boys both have baseball practice tonight. So, like always, we are busy. Kate will get her cavities filled on 4/28 so pray it goes well. She will not be able to eat or drink before her appointment because they will be giving her some type of medication to relax her, then laughing gas. Well, again, I hope soon that I will be able to post new pics next time I post, until then Cheers!

A Brief Update

Well, as ususual we have been extremely busy. We have ball practice, games, church, birthday parties, shopping for a new lawn mower and of course chores around the house...My car has seen better days-since it seems as though we are living out of it these days. The little ones are eating "sack dinners" in the car and watching shows on the portable DVD players while Josh is practicing ball. Funny, they really don't seem to mind. Kate went to the dentist today, I am sorry to report that she does have 2 cavities, one large and one small. She also has a very loose tooth-the dentist said she will be missing her 2 top front teeth by Christmas, so we might be singing All I want for Christmas is my 2 Front Teeth-We are trying (very hard) to get Heston off his pacies. Last night I broke down and cut the tips off of them, he was not a happy camper but is surviving (and so am I). He still sleeps with them, just in his hand and NOT in his mouth. Which is more than fine with me. Josh made nothing below a 90 on his report card and got good remarks from his teachers, so he cleaned out Granddad's wallet this past weekend. Of course, dad doesn't mind! This weekend we have a crazy schedule as well so we are hoping for a quiet evening at home Saturday night. Although we might all be in bed at 7:00! Spring Break is right around the corner as is Easter so I am also trying to come up with fun ideas for the kids...not sure I am up to the task though. I have been extremely tired lately. I wasnt prepared for the effects I now feel since Jon is working that extra 24 hours out of town-boy it adds a lot more to my plate than I thought it would. By Thursday night, we all are "over it". Well hope this gives you a little update into our lives...Oh did I mention Josh and I have been working on his science project???? Yes, another thing added to the "to do" list!! I hope to post pictures soon...just one thing/day at a time- Until then...Cheers!

Fun Times, I think

The past few weeks have been extremely hectic. A few weekends ago Jon took Josh to the Hawks/Mavericks game in Atlanta with Mike. They had a wonderful time. Jon just got, yet another work assignment out of town and it looks like he will not be getting to coach and is settling for assistant coach since he won't be able to devote enough time to the team. He is disappointed to say the least. He is now working out of town 5 days a week instead of 4 so that leaves me with another 24 hours of being outnumbered 3 to 1 with kids. I will survive but some days are more challenging than others. Baseball is here: Josh is all signed up and ready to go, Heston is also signed up for T-ball. He is hitting right handed so we'll see how he does this 1st year playing ball, he is really excited. (on a side note, he is officially left handed-we have also noticed he kicks a ball with his right foot too). Josh's 10th Birthday party was at our house on Saturday 3/6 from 5-8pm and the weather was pretty so they played outside most of the time. Josh invited his basketball team along with a few various friends from school, church and the neighborhood, he has a decent turn out and got lots of great presents. Heston's Birthday went well. He is officially 3 and no longer a baby. We had a family party that consisted of going to CiCi's pizza and coming home for cake and presents...He has really enjoyed the cake-Since we did not give him a party with friends we took cup cakes to school for all to enjoy. I think he had a pretty good day. Thank you all for sending Birthday wishes to the kids the past 5 weeks! Josh had his Basketball Awards dinner the other week-overall he really enjoyed basketball and is looking forward to try-outs next year. Kate has a BIG attitude these days, not sure what is up with her, but trust me I am trying hard to get to the bottom of it. If she is like this at 5 I am not sure we will survive when she is 15! She is more than ready for Kindergarten and wants to take swim lessons and piano lessons soon. She is still in gymnastics so one thing at a time...I am only one person!! I am a firm beliver that keeping kids active is good for their health as well as keeps them out of trouble during their teenage years, but I also think there is a limit on how much they can handle, especially at this age. Only 1 kid is involved in 1 activity at any given time has been my rule of thumb til this year when we decided to sign Heston up for ball too-we'll see how this works out- a little nervous I must admit. We have birthday parties to attend every weekend in the month of March not to mention the boys' birthdays and dad's birthday...Josh's is 3/6 dad's is 3/9 and Heston's is 3/12, so that is one busy week!! Our weekends also stay busy with birthday parties, baseball and other activities and with the weather getting warmer and summer quickly approaching...the kids will be wanting to head to the Lake/swimming pool. Which is fine with us, because it wears them out!! I think this pretty much sums up life at the Daivs' for now anyways. I promise I will be posting pictures from all our activities soon. Until then...Cheers!
